A VAD (Vortex Assisted Design) System with a “curved” bypass is a patented scuba regulator technology from Mares designed to provide effortless, natural breathing and high air flow at any depth. The system uses a bypass tube to deliver air directly to the mouthpiece, creating a swirling vortex that creates a low-pressure zone, keeping the diaphragm down during inhalation
