The Suunto Nautic S is a compact, full-featured dive computer designed for scuba divers and freedivers at any level. It combines serious dive functionality with everyday wearability, fitting comfortably on any wrist with its elastic textile strap. From the first open water course to multi-day dive expeditions, the Nautic S is built to grow with the diver.
The display is a 1.43 inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels. AMOLED displays produce sharp, high-contrast visuals that remain readable in bright surface conditions and at depth. Brightness adjusts automatically, and the display can be set to always-on mode. The screen is protected by sapphire crystal, one of the hardest materials used in watch glass, resistant to scratching from reef contact and equipment handling.
The case is made from glass fibre reinforced polyamide, a lightweight but durable material used in technical equipment designed for demanding conditions. The bezel is stainless steel. The watch is water resistant to 100 metres and rated for use in dive mode between 0°C and 40°C. Operating temperature outside the water runs from -20°C to +55°C, making it suitable for cold-water and warm-water diving alike.
The elastic textile strap is 22mm wide and adapts to different wrist sizes and drysuit or wetsuit sleeves without the rigidity of a rubber strap. Total weight is 81 grams.
Dive functionality
The Suunto Nautic S supports scuba diving, freediving, snorkelling, and bottom-timer modes. The maximum operating depth is 80 metres (EN 13319 certified). The decompression model is Suunto Bühlmann 16 GF, a well-established algorithm used in professional dive computers. Gradient factors are adjustable: low from 10 to 100, high from 50 to 100, giving experienced divers control over decompression conservatism. Decompression profiles can be displayed as continuous or stepped.
The computer supports up to 5 gases with oxygen content from 21 to 100%, covering air, nitrox, and pure oxygen mixes. Maximum PO2 is manually adjustable between 1.0 and 1.6. CNS and OTU (OLF) tracking is included, with warnings at 80% and 100%. Altitude adjustment is available across three ranges: 0 to 300 metres, 300 to 1500 metres, and 1500 to 3000 metres. Dive log storage is unlimited.
Dive views are fully customisable, and alarms can be set for ascent rate, decompression violations, dive time, gas time, high PO2, maximum depth, and tank pressure. A safety stop function, ascent time display, no-decompression limit planner, and gas change alerts are all included. Flight prohibition time is calculated automatically after each dive.
For freedivers, the Nautic S tracks snorkelling depth to 80 metres, logs consecutive freedives, and records daily and total freedive history. Depth and surface time notifications are included.
Wireless tank pressure
The Suunto Nautic S supports wireless tank pressure transmission, displaying real-time gas values directly at the wrist without a hose. Two transmitters can be connected simultaneously, making it suitable for sidemount diving where both cylinders need to be monitored independently. Colour-coded visuals provide instant clarity on gas status during the dive. Gas consumption is displayed in real time, and remaining gas time is calculated continuously.
Navigation and outdoor tools
The Nautic S includes integrated GPS with support for five satellite systems simultaneously: GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, and BeiDou, with dual-band (L1+L5) frequency support and up to 32 connected satellites. This level of satellite connectivity provides accurate positioning in challenging environments. Offline maps are stored on 32GB of internal memory. The watch supports outdoor terrain and satellite maps, global heatmaps for 20 sports, route planning, personal route library synchronisation, snap-to-route navigation, points of interest, and estimated arrival time calculation.
A tilt-compensated digital compass with 5-degree accuracy and 1-degree scale divisions works both on the surface and underwater. Tide data, weather information, sunrise and sunset times, storm warnings, barometric pressure, and temperature readings (accurate to 1°C) complete the surface navigation toolkit.
Battery life is up to 60 hours in dive mode, and up to 26 days in standby. The rechargeable lithium-ion battery charges via USB and supports over-the-air firmware updates.

For divers asking which dive computer to choose as their first or everyday wrist computer: the Suunto Nautic S covers recreational diving, nitrox diving, freediving, and sidemount in a single compact device. It suits beginner divers who want room to grow and experienced divers who want a reliable, well-specified wrist computer without carrying a larger console unit.
