The SeaLife SportDiver Underwater Smartphone Housing allows snorkellers and divers to use their smartphone camera underwater with full control over advanced camera settings.
The housing connects automatically to your smartphone and the SportDiver app using Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) 5 wireless technology. No cables or buttons touch the phone. The connection offers ultra-low power consumption for both the phone and the housing. The housing itself is powered by two AAA batteries that last over 50 hours of continuous use.
The free SportDiver app includes no in-app purchases or ads. You can switch between photo and video mode, and adjust settings including zoom, exposure (EV), auto and manual focus, white balance, tint, lens selection, RAW+JPEG mode, Live Photo, and video stabilisation. Note: some settings may not be available depending on the phone make or model. The app uses the phone's native camera technology and supports the current and previous versions of the phone's operating system. The app is updated in line with new OS versions.
App Playback mode shows full-size photos and videos with a vertical thumbnail strip for easy browsing. Videos play automatically when selected. All files are also saved to the phone's camera roll.
A removable underwater colour-correction filter is included with the housing to restore natural underwater colours. The filter attaches and removes underwater and includes a safety tether to prevent loss. The housing features three 1/4-20 tripod mounts, compatible with any light or light tray with standard tripod threads, including SeaLife's Sea Dragon underwater photo and video lights.
For the phone's security, the housing has a sturdy holding spring and rubber grip tabs that hold the smartphone firmly in place and add shock protection. The housing includes a dual leak alarm system: an internal moisture alarm and a vacuum pressure alarm. In the unlikely event the waterproof seal is compromised or moisture is detected, the alarms alert the diver with on-screen warnings, audio, and an LED signal. The housing door is sealed with a TPE O-ring and a robust cam-lock sealing latch. To prevent interior fogging, the housing uses a Moisture Muncher anti-fogging capsule that prevents fogging and internal condensation.
