Garmin Descent™ X50i

At the centre of the Garmin Descent™ X50i is a 3-inch colour touchscreen, sharper and easier to read than earlier Descent models, with a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels behind sapphire glass. Touch control works above the surface only; underwater, leak-proof inductive buttons take over so the dive computer stays fully usable at depth.

Depth rating goes to 20 ATM, or 200 metres, with the Descent™ X50i tracking your ascent through a decompression plan built from your actual depth and bottom time. A depth map and full depth history let you retrace exactly where a dive took you and see how that shaped your decompression obligation. Underneath it all runs the Bühlmann ZHL-16c decompression model with gradient factors, across single-gas, multi-gas, gauge, nitrox, trimix, and closed circuit rebreather (CCR) modes. Gas mixes go up to 100% oxygen, with one bottom gas plus up to 11 decompression or backup gases, and PO2 is adjustable up to 2.0.

Add the Descent™ T2 Transceiver, sold separately, and the Descent™ X50i becomes an air-integrated dive computer, monitoring tank pressure across up to 8 tanks through Garmin's SubWave™ sonar technology. The same SubWave™ system lets divers swap preset message templates at distances up to 30 metres, and track tank pressure, depth, and distance for up to 8 dive buddies within 10 metres. Diving sidemount cylinders with a paired Descent™ T2 Transceiver, you'll get a visual prompt to switch tanks at a pressure you've set in advance, keeping gas supply balanced and redundant.

DiveView™ maps build on the preinstalled TopoActive maps with bathymetric contour lines for more than 4,000 dive sites, giving you a picture of where you're diving before you get in the water. An integrated LED flashlight covers low-visibility moments, surface GPS logs your entry and exit points, and a built-in 3-axis compass with ABC sensors handles underwater navigation. On the surface, GPS navigation points you back to a dive site so your next entry lands exactly where you want it.

Every dive gets logged, up to 200 of them, syncable through the Garmin Dive™ app, where you can add photos, manage gear, and keep your logbook backed up automatically. Dive modes are yours to configure: add extra data pages with whichever fields matter most to you. Garmin NDL Aware™ runs in real time, showing how a change in depth will affect your no-decompression limit so you can make the most of your bottom time. There's also a display-reversal mode for wearing the computer with buttons up, and, paired with a compatible smartphone, tide and weather data on demand.

Diving with a backup computer? Sync gas mixes, conservatism settings, and alarms between two compatible Descent™ devices, and either one becomes a fully interchangeable backup for the other, no manual re-entry required.

Battery life runs to 16 hours at medium brightness, 13 hours at high brightness, or 20 hours in night dive mode, backed by 32 GB of onboard storage. Alarms cover ascent rate, PO2, CNS/OTU, no-decompression limit, decompression, gas switches, tank pressure, and gas consumption rate, with up to 40 customisable sound and/or vibration alerts per dive mode. Above the surface, a diver status widget shows surface interval, N2/He loading, CNS, OTU, and tissue status, and Dive Readiness appears when paired with a compatible Garmin smartwatch. Onboard sensors include GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, compass, gyroscope, accelerometer, thermometer, ambient light sensor, and depth sensor, with connectivity through Bluetooth®, ANT+®, Wi-Fi®, and SubWave™. Settings sync in real time with Garmin Connect™ Mobile, and the Descent™ X50i works with both iPhone® and Android™ (SMS reply and call rejection via SMS are Android-only). Preinstalled boating profiles cover powerboat, sailing, and sail racing, with marine data streaming through Connect IQ.
